Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s influential book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the theme explored the intersection of African and European style traditions and how Black aesthetes have redefined elegance over centuries.
The accompanying exhibition, opening May 10 and running through October 26, showcases high-style menswear, archival garments, and artistic interpretations of Black dandyism’s cultural significance.
A-List Attendees and Show-Stopping Fashion
The blue carpet was a spectacle of tailored suits, structured silhouettes, and avant-garde interpretations of dandyism, with celebrities embracing the “Tailored for You” dress code. Among the standout looks:

“Dandyism is about storytelling,” said Jeremy O. Harris, playwright and actor. “It’s about how you meet the world with a narrative that says, ‘This is who I am, and I refuse to be confined by expectations’”.
